THE 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games are all set to be held in British Columbia, Canada from February 12 to 28. The major events of the games will be held in Vancouver while some of them will be held in the resort town of Whistler.
Vancouver Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are being organised by Vancouver Organising Committee (VANOC). The Vancouver Olympic will be third such games organised by Canada, which has earlier hosted Summer Olympics in 1976 and 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.
Ilanaaq the Inunnguaq is the logo of 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and it means a friend. The logo is based on the Inukshuk landmark used on English Bay Beach. The mascots were introduced on November 27 and include Miga, Quatchi, Sumi, Mighty, Mukmuk.
The 2010 Winter Olympic Games will have eighty six sports event and these are differentiated in various categories. The ice sports will have opening and closing ceremonies at Vancouver and Richmond, whereas the Nordic events will be held in Callaghan Valley.
